April 25, 2014 – Kevin Harvick dominated the ToyotaCare 250 at Richmond Raceway to lead the first 1-2 finish for JR Motorsports. Harvick led 202 of the 250 laps to earn his track-record seventh Richmond NASCAR Xfinity Series win.
April 25, 2010 – Kevin Harvick slipped around Jamie McMurray racing to the finish line and took the checkered flag by inches in the NASCAR Cup Series Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway. McMurray had the lead on the race’s third and final green-white-checkered finish attempt and was shooting for his third straight restrictor-plate race victory. Harvick slid his car right to the rear bumper of McMurray’s and the duo was able to draft away from the rest of the field. As they raced off the fourth turn and through the tri-oval, Harvick ducked below McMurray as they sped to the finish and was ahead by .011-seconds as the checkered flag flew. It was Harvick’s first points race win since he was victorious in the 2007 Daytona 500. The race saw 88 lead changes among 29 different drivers.
April 25, 2010 – Brad Keselowski was in front of the field when a wild crash broke out behind him and scored a victory in the rain-delayed NASCAR Xfinity (Nationwide) Series Aaron’s 312 at Talladega Superspeedway. Jamie McMurray tried to squeeze in front of Clint Bowyer as the field charged through the third and fourth turns on the final lap but made contact setting off a chain reaction crash behind Keselowski who took the checkered flag. The spectacular accident saw Dennis Setzer’s car bounce off Paul Menard’s and climb the catchfence over the fourth turn wall before coming to rest in a fiery blaze. None of the drivers involved in the melee were injured. The race was the nightcap of a long day of racing at Talladega that necessitated the Xfinity Series run after the day’s Cup Series Aaron’s 499 when rain and severe weather closed the track on Saturday.
April 25, 2009 – David Ragan got by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Ryan Newman when they made contact on the final lap and went on to win the NASCAR Xfinity (Nationwide) Series Aaron’s 312 at Talladega Superspeedway. It was Ragan’s first win in one of NASCAR’s top divisions. The race saw six cautions for 20 laps. Matt Kenseth wound up on his roof in one of the late race accidents but was able to climb out of the car after the scary-looking wreck.
April 25, 2004 – Jeff Gordon ended Dale Earnhardt Inc.’s streak of five consecutive wins at Talladega Superspeedway but it didn’t come without controversy. Gordon was declared to be the leader by NASCAR when a caution flag flew with four laps to go giving him the win in the Aaron’s 499. When rookie Brian Vickers spun in Turn 3, Gordon’s Chevrolet was ahead of Earnhardt Jr.’s Chevrolet as the field was frozen by NASCAR’s timing and scoring. Since the race could not be restarted, Gordon picked up his 65th career NASCAR Cup Series win but not before being showered by a cascade of beer cans and garbage from unhappy fans in the stands.
April 25, 1999 – Dale Earnhardt held off Dale Jarrett to win the DieHard 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. Earnhardt led 70 laps, including the final 14, to pick up his eighth (of 10) win at Talladega. It also was his 72nd (of 76) career win and first since the 1998 Daytona 500. Tony Stewart finished fifth for his first of 187 career top fives.
April 25, 1998 – Stacy Compton dominated the Craftsman 200 at Portland Speedway for his first of two career NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck (Craftsman) Series wins. Compton led 198 of the 200 laps and took the checkered flag ahead of Randy Tolsma.
April 25, 1998 – Joe Nemechek held off Phil Parsons to win the Touchstone Energy 300 at Talladega Superspeedway. Nemechek led 33 laps, including the final 12, to score his seventh (of 16) career NASCAR Xfinity (Busch) Series win.
April 25, 1993 – Rusty Wallace captured his third straight win of the season and first of four consecutive in the spring race at Martinsville Speedway in the Hanes 500. Wallace led 409 of the 500 laps and took the win under caution after Morgan Shepherd crashed with three laps to go.
April 25, 1992 – Bobby Labonte won his first of three NASCAR Xfinity (Busch) Series races of the season in the Nestle Chilled Beverages 300 at Lanier Speedway. Jeff Gordon led the opening 177 laps from the pole before having to pit for a right-rear tire going down and a look under the hood for an issue with the throttle. Labonte passed Kenny Wallace, who led 99 laps, with 24 laps to go.
