Team Penske heads into the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season after shifting driver-crew chief pairings for all three of its teams in the offseason.
Jeremy Bullins is now the crew chief for Brad Keselowski, Todd Gordon moves to the No. 12 team for Ryan Blaney and Paul Wolfe will lead Joey Logano’s team.
The move came after Keselowski and Logano combined to win three of the first six races in 2019. After that, the organization won only three more races for the entire year. All three teams made the playoffs, but Keselowski was eliminated in the Round of 12 followed by Blaney and Logano in the Round of 8.
Logano finished fifth in the standings last year and is looking forward to working with Wolfe, who won 29 races and the 2012 title with Keselowski.
“I respect Paul and that whole team and the way they have done things and how they put a fast race car on the track for Brad at the time,” Logano said. “I’m sure there will be some learning curve that goes a long with that and there already has been with communication and the process and how Paul leads his race team compared to when Todd did it. I feel confident that that we are going to have a strong season.”
Paint Schemes: No. 2 | No. 12 | No. 22
The road and pit crews will follow their respective crew chiefs to their new positions.
“It’s obviously a very big change,” Keselowski said. “It’s like getting divorced and re-married in one day. Internally at Penske it’s not really a big change because the day-to-day remains the same for everyone that works on the cars. It’s just a different name and paint scheme on the car that they were producing.”
Bullins and Keselowski won 14 NASCAR Xfinity Series races together, including six in 2013.
Last season, Blaney finished a career-best seventh in the standings with one win with Bullins atop the pit box.
“I felt like last year was a good year for Team Penske but not great though and Mr. Penske strives on greatness,” Blaney said. “I think this was a big shake-up but I think it’s going to challenge everybody to be better not only the drivers but the crew chiefs as well.”
