  • Kevin Harvick has posted 10 top 10s in the last 13 races, including a win last August and five runner-up finishes.

  • Erik Jones (9.2), William Byron (11.4) and Alex Bowman (12.6) each rank in the top 10 in average finish in the last five races, excluding Daytona, with the 550 horsepower rules package.
  • Daniel Suarez (5.0), Ryan Newman (9.3) and Aric Almirola (12.7) each rank in the top 10 in the three races that utilized this weekend’s tire combination.

Driver Notes – Ordered by Average Finish (Top 15) in the Last Five Races at Michigan

Kyle Busch is the only driver that has finished in the top 10 in the last five races at Michigan. He did not lead any laps in June when he finished fifth with the 550 horsepower package. Excluding Daytona, Busch has the third-best average finish (7.8) in the last five races with the 550 rules package.

Kurt Busch has finished 12th or better in eight of the last nine races at Michigan, including a win in the 2015 June race. Busch finished second in June in his first track start with Chip Ganassi Racing. Busch has posted a 10.8 average finish in the last five races with the 550 horsepower package (excluding Daytona), that includes a win at the recently repaved Kentucky Speedway.

Kevin Harvick finished seventh in June at Michigan for his third consecutive top 10 at the track, which includes a win in this event last year. Harvick finished sixth in the last race with the 550 horsepower rules package at Pocono. The finish was his best with the rules package since Auto Club earlier this season.

Martin Truex Jr. finished third in June for his third top 10 in the last five races at Michigan. The finish was his second third-place finish (Pocono) and third top 10 in the last five races with the 550 horsepower package, excluding Daytona.

Brad Keselowski has finished ninth or better in nine of the last 11 races at Michigan. In the last five races with the 550 horsepower package, excluding Daytona, Keselowski has finished eighth or better in four of them, including his sixth-place finish at MIS.

Chase Elliott finished 20th in June at Michigan to snap a streak of six consecutive finishes of ninth or better at the track, including three runner-ups. Elliott, who won last weekend at Watkins Glen, has posted an average finish 17.6 average finish in the last five races with the 550 horsepower package, excluding Daytona.

Joey Logano has finished in the top 10 in 12 of the last 13 races at Michigan, including three wins. He led 163 laps en route to the win in the June race. Excluding Daytona, Logano has posted a 6.2 average finish in the last five races with the 550 horsepower package, which leads all drivers.

Denny Hamlin has finished in the top 10 in three of the last six races at Michigan. His last of two wins at the track came in this event in 2011. Hamlin started fourth and finished 11th in June in the first race at MIS with the 550 horsepower package. Hamlin won at Pocono two weeks ago to give him an average finish of 7.6 in the last five races, excluding Daytona, with the 550 package.

Aric Almirola finished seventh in this event last year for his only top 10 in 14 starts at Michigan. Excluding Daytona, Almirola’s last top 10 (10th) with the 550 horsepower package came at Pocono in June.

Daniel Hemric finished 12th in his first Cup start at Michigan in June. Excluding Talladega and Daytona, Hemric’s only top 10 (seventh) with the 550 horsepower rules package came two weeks ago at Pocono.

Kyle Larson has recorded an average finish of 13.3 in 11 starts at Michigan that includes three straight wins. He’s finished outside the top 10 in the last three races, including a 14th-place finish in June. Excluding Daytona, Larson has finished in the top five in the last three races with the 550 horsepower package.

Ryan Blaney has finished in the top 10 in his last three starts at Michigan. Blaney has posted a 10.0 average finish in the last five races, excluding Daytona, with the 550 horsepower package, including his ninth-place finish at MIS in June.

Ryan Newman finished eighth in his first start at Michigan with Roush Fenway Racing in June. It marked his third top 10 in the last 10 races at MIS. Excluding Daytona, Newman has record two top 10s and an average finish of 12.8 in the last five races with the 550 horsepower package.
