Weather Cancels Cup Qualifying

Starting Lineup

Qualifying for Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway was canceled due to weather.

Due to the forecast, officials called qualifying, which was scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. ET, when the Camping World Truck Series race was postponed to Sunday after 23 laps were completed.

This is the second consecutive spring race at Martinsville where weather canceled qualifying. Martin Truex Jr., who led both of the practice sessions earlier in the day, will start from the pole based on owner points.

“Martinsville it’s definitely a big advantage to start out front,” Truex Jr. said. “First pit box obviously, everyone knows it’s a big deal here and that’s where you want to be so you get that clean stall in and out and not get torn up on pit road.”

Motor Racing Network’s pre-race coverage will begin at 1 p.m. ET.
