Championship contenders Carson Hocevar and Bubba Wallace were among the drivers involved in a multicar incident on a Lap 123 restart at Kansas Speedway during the NASCAR Cup Series Chase presented by Mobil 1.
Just after taking the green flag, the No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet driver moved behind Chase Elliott, but there was not enough room as Hocevar collided with Ty Gibbs to spark a wreck that also collected non-Chase drivers Josh Berry, Zane Smith and Erik Jones. Brad Keselowski, driver of the No. 6 RFK Racing Ford, was lined up behind Hocevar during the incident. Keselowski was involved with Hocevar during an on-track spin at Darlington Raceway earlier this month.

All drivers involved in the wreck remained on track, with only Berry falling multiple laps down to repair damage on the No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford.
Wallace rallied on late-race pit strategy to earn a ninth-place result despite damage to the No. 23 23XI Racing Toyota. Fortunes were not as favorable for Hocevar, whose car was impaired for the remainder of the race after the wreck and the Michigan native was credited with a 33rd-place finish, three laps down.
Wallace leaves Kansas tied for ninth in points, 140 points behind leader Kyle Larson. Hocevar dropped three spots to 11th in the Chase standings, 150 points back.
