Justin Botelho, an avid iRacer, won Landon Cassill’s iRacing Monza Madness, a race that featured many drivers from NASCAR, IndyCar, NHRA, Dirt and the sim racing world.
Botelho (@j_botelho4) started 53rd and took the lead with 13 laps to go when Tommy Joe Martins pitted.
“I can not believe it,” Botelho said on the Podium eSports broadcast. “I was shaking on that last lap. I can not express my emotions right now, I’m so excited. That was a hell of a race.”
Martins came home second with Casey Kirwan, Ray Alfalla and Chase Cabre rounding out the top five at the virtual Monza oval.
Cassill, Bayley Currey, Timmy Hill, Adam Gilliland and Garrett Smithley completed the top 10.
Sixty-two drivers took the green flag.
The race, which was also streamed live on Cassill’s Twitch page and on eNASCAR.com, was 30 laps with no cautions and the damage was turned off.
Motor Racing Network’s Alex Hayden was part of the online broadcast.
