iRacing Pro Power Rankings After Texas


Pete Pistone’s second edition of the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Power Rankings following the O’Reilly Auto Parts 125 at the virtual Texas Motor Speedway.

Timmy Hill: Scored his 674th iRacing win in career start 1,677. He led seven laps at Texas and moved William Byron up the track in the closing laps on his way to the win. He has an average finish of 2.0 in the opening two races of the Pro Invitational Series and won using the same steering wheel he’s had for the last 12 years.

2. Dale Earnhardt Jr.: A second top-10 finish to start the Pro Invitational Series with a sixth place run at Texas. He came back from contact with the wall on Sunday. "Virtual brain fart" he Tweeted.

3. Denny Hamlin: The opening week winner at the virtual Homestead-Miami had a tough second outing in Texas. Hamlin dropped to the back of the pack early a strategy that did not work out well and was scored with a 24th-place finish after getting caught up in a multi-car crash.

4. Garrett Smithley: A very strong start for the underdog driver with two straight top-five finishes to kick off the Pro Invitational Series. Smithley followed his Homestead fifth-place run with a solid third-place performance at Texas.

5. William Byron: He dominated the race and led the most laps (80) at Texas as he did in the series opener at Homestead-Miami. However, late race contact sent Byron back in the pack and he eventually crossed the finish line with a seventh-place finish. He has started from the front row in both races so far in the series. "We’ll get him back next time," Byron Tweeted after the race.

6. Ryan Preece: A runner-up performance for Preece at Texas gave him a pair of top-five finishes to begin the Pro Series Invitational. Had a great save late in the race as a caution came and held on to his car through Turn 1 after going through the tri-oval grass.

7. Alex Bowman: A nice rebound from a challenge-filled opening race at Homestead-Miami for Bowman. He finished fifth at Texas and has an average finish of 5.5 in his first two iRacing starts. He tweeted after the race: "Holy smokes top five – I’m breaking out the cheap tequila tonight."

8. Landon Cassill: A fourth-place finish for Cassill was his best Pro Invitational Series finish. He started out the season with an 12th at Homestead-Miami.

9. Parker Kligerman: Steady start for the broadcaster/racer as Kligerman finished 12th at Texas and 13th at Homestead-Miami.

10. Matt DiBenedetto: He flexed his muscles figuratively and literally in Sunday’s race coming home 15th to follow his 11th-place finish the week before. Before the race, DiBenedetto posted a picture on Twitter and said, "I’ve always dreamt of racing in my underwear. Today I get to do that."
