  • The 2019 season is the first time Austin Hill has made the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Playoffs.
  • In his first full season (2018) in the  NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series driving for Young’s Motorsports Hill failed to make Playoffs, ultimately finishing the season 11th in the championship points.
  • In 2016 and 2017 he failed to make the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Playoffs due to only running a part-time schedule; he finished 26th and 23rd in the championship standings, respectively.
  • The No. 16 Hattori Racing Enterprises team won the 2018 NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series driver and owner championships with driver Brett Moffit.

  • The 2019 season is the first time Ross Chastain has made the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Playoffs.
  • From 2014 to 2018, Chastain competed as a fulltime championship contender in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
  • Chastain’s first full season in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series was in 2012; he finished 17th in the final championship standings.

6.     Matt Crafton – ThorSport Racing – No. 88 ThorSport Racing Ford F-150

  • This is Crafton’s fourth consecutive career Gander Trucks Playoff appearance.
  • Through 16 races this season, Crafton has posted six top fives, 14 top 10s and two poles (Kansas, Charlotte).
  • Has won three stages and accumulated 11 Playoff points.
  • Has led 34 of 2,413 laps completed (1.4%)
  • 2019 average starting position, 7.4 and average finishing position, 7.2.

Previous Gander Trucks Playoff Stats:

  • One of only two Gander Truck drivers (Crafton and Johnny Sauter) that have made the series Playoffs each year since its inception in 2016.
  • In the seven Playoff races of 2018, he posted two top fives and four top 10s, but ultimately finished the season sixth in the championship standings after being eliminated in the Round of 6.
  • He led 16 laps and put up an average starting position of 13.8 and an average finishing position of 10.7 in the 2018 Playoffs.
  • In the seven Playoff races of 2017, he posted one top five and six top 10s on his way to the Championship 4 for the second time in his career. He ultimately finished the season fourth in the championship standings.
  • In the seven postseason races of the inaugural Playoffs in 2016, he posted three top fives and five top 10s on his way to the Championship 4. He ultimately finished the season runner-up to Johnny Sauter in the final standings.
  • Though accomplishing the feat prior to the Playoff Era (2016-Present), Matt Crafton is only NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series champion to win back-to-back titles (2013, 2014).

  • Through 15 races this season, Sauter has posted one win (Dover), three top fives, and seven top 10s – *Sauter only competed in 15 of the 16 scheduled races due to being suspended for one race (Charlotte).
  • Has won three stages and accumulated nine Playoff points.
  • Has led 76 of 2,060 laps completed (3.6%).
  • 2019 average starting position, 7.4 and average finishing position, 7.2.

  • One of only two Gander Truck drivers (Sauter and Matt Crafton) that have made the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Playoffs each year since its inception in 2016.
  • In the seven Playoff races of 2018, he posted one win (Martinsville), two top fives and four top 10s on his way to the Championship 4, but ultimately finished the season fourth in the championship standings.
  • In 2018, he led 187 laps and put up an average starting position of 6.5 and an average finish of 8.7.
  • In the seven Playoff races of 2017, he posted two wins (Texas, ISM Raceway), four top fives and six top 10s on his way to the Championship 4, but ultimately finished the season runner-up to Christopher Bell in the championship standings.
  • Sauter won the 2016 NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series championship in the inaugural season of the Playoffs.
  • In the seven Playoff races of 2016, he posted two wins (Martinsville, Texas), four top fives and seven top 10s on his way to the Championship 4 and ultimately series title.

2019 Season Stats:

  • Enters the 2019 NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Playoffs as the eighth and final seed, 17 points behind the Playoff standings leader Brett Moffitt and four points behind of seventh place Johnny Sauter.
  • Ankrum has clinched the Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series for 2018 because he is the only rookie this season to make the Playoffs.
  • Through the first 16 races of the season Ankrum has only competed in 13 of the events due to being too young to compete at the beginning of the season. In his 13 starts he has posted one win (Kentucky), three top fives and six top 10s.
  • Has yet to win a stage in 2019 but he has accumulated five Playoff points.
  • Has led 52 of 1,678 laps completed (3.1%)

  • The 2019 season is the first time Tyler Ankrum has made the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Playoffs.
  • In 2018, he did not make the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Playoffs because he only competed in two series races.
  • Ankrum becomes just the sixth different Sunoco Rookie of the Year candidate to make the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Playoffs joining Christopher Bell (2016), William Bryon (2016), Austin Cindric (2017), Chase Briscoe (2017) and Kaz Grala (2017). Cindric and Bell are tied for the best championship finish by a rookie in the Playoff Era (2016-Present) – they both finished third in points.
