Tyler Reddick won Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series MoneyLion 300 at Talladega Superspeedway to score his first win of the season and the $100,000 Dash 4 Cash bonus.
Despite a pit road speeding penalty and sustaining damage after contact earlier in the race, Reddick was able to score his second career superspeedway race win on Saturday. It was his fourth career win.
Reddick had to outrun the field in a two-lap shootout to the checkered flag that came after a crash red flagged the race. Jeffrey Earnhardt, Justin Allgaier, Cole Custer and Ryan Sieg were among those involved in the accident.
When the green reappeared, Reddick dodged and weaved around the track blocking the field behind him and was able to be ahead across the finish line to score the win.
“I had to risk it for the biscuit, I wasn’t going down without a fight,” Reddick said in Victory Lane. “I couldn’t breathe that whole last lap.”
Reddick led three times for 34 laps, including the final 11
It was the first Xfinity Series win at Talladega for Richard Childress Racing.
Gray Gaulding, Christopher Bell, Chase Briscoe and Austin Cindric rounded out the top five.
“I felt like the Lone Ranger, I think I had to earn some people’s respect,” said Gaulding, who scored his best career finish. “Every single lap I get in this car, I drive my heart out and today it almost worked out.”
John Hunter Nemechek, Justin Haley, Josh Williams, Landon Cassill and Chris Cockrum completed the first 10 finishers.
Reddick and Noah Gragson won the first two stages of the race.
The NASCAR Xfinity Series now heads to Dover International Speedway next Saturday afternoon. Reddick, Gaulding, Bell and Briscoe will compete for the final Dash 4 Cash bonus next weekend at Dover.
