Justin Allgaier won Sunday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Iowa 250 presented by Enogen at Iowa Speedway after leading 182 of 250 laps and sweeping all stages.
Allgaier scored his seventh career series victory on a hot and sweltering afternoon in Iowa.
“We had a great car today,” Allgaier said. “These guys did a fantastic job. I can’t thank these guys at JR Motorsports enough. Winning on Father’s Day with my daughter here is really cool.”
Brandon Hightower spun with 18 laps to go setting up a chaotic final restart. But when the green flag reappeared, Allgaier got the jump while Christopher Bell tried to take the top spot away.
Bell did his best to close the gap in the final laps but had to settle for second coming back from the rear of the field after his car was not able to pass pre-qualifying inspection.
“I just needed to be in front of him,” Bell said. I” was really good on the bottom of both corners, but I didn’t have enough to clear him…We had a really good Camry, just not enough to get by him.”
Daniel Hemric, Cole Custer and Brandon Jones rounded out the top five.
Riley Herbst was sixth in his first career start followed by Ty Majeski, Tyler Reddick, Matt Tifft and Kaz Grala completed the first 10 finishers.
Elliott Sadler cut a tire and got into the wall in Stage 1. He finished 28th for his second straight finish outside the top 25. He had finished in the top 10 in the first 12 races
The NASCAR Xfinity Series returns to action on Saturday, June 30th at Chicagoland Speedway.
