Larson Set for Sprint Speedweek

Kyle Larson is set for six consecutive nights of racing as he will take part in the 36th Annual Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek for the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.

Larson will spend his off week from the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series racing a sprint car starting on Friday night at Attica Raceway Park.

“This is definitely one of my most favorite times of the year,” Larson said. “I get to race a sprint car six days in a row. I’m looking forward to that.”

Last year, Larson won the two events during Ohio Speedweek he competed in at Wayne County Speedway and Sharon Speedway. He will once again race at those tracks on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.

One track Larson is looking forward to getting the opportunity to race at again is Eldora Speedway – Saturday night.

“I haven’t raced a sprint car at Eldora since 2013 so I’m really looking forward to that,” Larson said. “That’s probably the one race that I’m anticipating the most because it’s a fun place. I feel like the style of racing there has changed a little bit but I feel like I can still hammer the fence and make it look like old Eldora.”

Earlier this month, Larson finished third in the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series feature at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Ill. Larson is allotted a number of races to compete in outside of NASCAR during the Cup season and his uses a majority up during the next couple weeks.

“I enjoy this time of year because I can get to a lot of races,” Larson said. “I get about 25 races during the regular Cup season. It’s just a lot of fun and I get jealous of the guys who get to do every race for the next 30 some days.”

Following Wednesday night’s event Atomic Speedway Larson will head to his home state of California for the first road course event of the season for the Cup Series at Sonoma Raceway.

Prior to heading to Ohio, Larson spent Thursday in Chicago promoting the July 1 Overton’s 400 at Chicagoland Speedway, a race weekend that will also feature the All Star Circuit of Champions on Saturday, June 30 across the street at Dirt Oval at Route 66. (Read More)
