Harvick to Backup Car at Bristol

Kevin Harvick will go to a backup car after hitting the wall in the closing minutes of the first practice session for the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Harvick was 13th quickest at the time of the impact on his 15th lap. He wound up 25th fastest in the session and will now start last in Sunday’s race.

“Something obviously either came off or broke in the front suspension,” Harvick said on the FS1 broadcast. “It definitely wasn’t a tire failure or anything like that. Going into the corner as soon as I let off it just hung a right.”

In the last five races at Bristol, Harvick has finished eighth or better.
