MRN Honored with 14 NMPA Awards

CONCORD, N.C. – Motor Racing Network – “The Voice of NASCAR” – kicked off the New Year by being honored by the National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA) with 14 awards for broadcast excellence during the 2017 season, including winning the Live Event Broadcast category for the fifth year in a row.

The network also picked up the top individual radio honors of the evening as Woody Cain was named Radio Broadcaster of the Year and Tyler Burnett Radio Producer of the Year.

Motor Racing Network was recognized as the NMPA’s annual convention wrapped up in Concord, N.C. MRN swept every radio category: Spot News Radio, Topic Oriented Feature Radio, Event Oriented Feature Radio, and the very prestigious Live Event Broadcast. Winners included Cain and fellow MRN Broadcasters Winston Kelley, Dave Moody and Kyle Rickey. On the producer side, Burnett and Cain were joined by Alexa Henrion as individual winners. MRN talent and SiriusXM NASCAR host Dave Moody also picked up two NMPA awards.

“We are so proud and thankful for the NMPA’s recognition of MRN’s broadcasts and more importantly, our people,” said Chris Schwartz, Managing Director, Broadcast & Integrated Media for International Speedway Corporation. “These awards reflect the hard work and dedication of our broadcast team and are especially meaningful on a weekend when Ken Squier, MRN co-founder, was inducted into NASCAR’s Hall of Fame.”

Motor Racing Network will launch its 49th season of NASCAR coverage from Daytona Beach, Fla., with live flag-to-flag broadcast of the season-opening Advance Auto Parts Clash special event on Feb. 10. MRN will be the home to all of DAYTONA Speedweeks, culminating with the 60h running of the Daytona 500 on Feb. 18.
