Matt DiBenedetto moved from Northern California to North Carolina at the age of 13 to pursue a career as a race car driver. In 2007, he won the “Tour Rookie of the Year” award in the UARA Stars Series. Two years later, he became the youngest driver to win at Bristol Motor Speedway when he captured the UARA Stars Late Model Tour race.

Getty ImagesDiBenedetto finished 14th in the 2009 K&N Pro Series East (now ARCA Menards Series East) while running in just seven of the 11 races. He made his Xfinity Series debut in 2009 at Memphis and finished 14th.

DiBenedetto competed for BK Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2015 and 2016 scoring one top 10 with the team – sixth at Bristol in 2016.

In 2017, DiBenedetto made the move to Go Fas Racing for two seasons where he recorded three top-10 finishes.

DiBenedetto finished a career-best 22nd in the standings in 2019 driving for Leavine Family Racing. He posted personal season bests in just about every statistical category that includes top fives (3), top 10s (7), laps led (152), average start (20.5) and average finish (18.3). DiBenedetto finished a career-best second in the Bristol Night Race.

For the 2020 Cup Series season, DiBenedetto will drive the famed No. 21 Ford for the Wood Brothers.
