Matt DiBenedeto’s fourth-place finish in the Toyota/Save Mart 350 was the best in his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series career.
Driving a special paint scheme to honor Darrell Waltrip, DiBenedetto notched his first top-five finish in 156 career starts in Sunday’s 16th race of the season.
“Amazing,” DiBenedetto said after climbing out of his Leavine Family Racing Toyota. “So lucky to be doing what I do, there are so many people who took a big chance on me. Kasey Kahne drove this last year. My buddy AJ Allmendinger helped me here. DW, this is so cool for him. This is awesome.”
DiBenedetto’s previous best finish was sixth at Bristol Motor Speedway in 2016.
“There are so many people to thank for taking a chance on me,” said DiBenedetto, who joined LFR this season and started the year by leading 49 laps in the Daytona 500. “I really believe we can keep building from here but today is such a great feeling for all the hard work everyone has done around this race team. I’m incredibly grateful and happy.”
