Driver Ratings

MRN’s Pete Pistone unveils this week’s Power Rankings following the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

1. Kyle Busch – It’s now 14 top-10 finishes in the first 15 races of the season for Busch who came from the 15th starting spot to take the checkered flag fifth. Busch once again admitted it was difficult making up spots but continues to adapt to the new rules package and perform well.

2. Martin Truex Jr. – A bad qualifying effort put Truex Jr. in the 16th starting spot but he didn’t stay there for long. Truex Jr. passed cars on track plus picked up spots on pit road to be in position for a run at the win and finished third on Sunday.

5. Chase Elliott – His top-five streak came to a screeching halt in a forgettable day for Elliott, who came to Michigan with the best average finish among active drivers. That mark took a hit when Elliott left MIS with a 20th-place finish.

6. Kurt Busch – Solid outing for Busch who finished second in Michigan and added to his strong Chip Ganassi Racing career. Busch did his best to use the draft and work his way to the lead but ultimately came up one position short.

7. Kevin Harvick – Yet another race filled with frustration for Harvick who endured pit road miscues and other challenges to take him from contention. Although he was able to race his way back to a seventh-place finish it was of little compensation to Harvick.
