Qualifying Results

CONCORD, N.C. - Jason Meyers and Paul McMahan, respectively, topped the qualifying sessions for Friday and Saturday night's World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

Meyers, who is racing the No. 49 car for Kasey Kahne Racing this weekend, posted a lap of 12.912 seconds to lead a field of 55 cars in the opening session. The Quick Time came after the team made changes to the car because Meyers didn't like the way it felt in hot laps.

"They have got a heck of a team here," Meyers said. Obviously Kasey has put great cars, motors and all that together, but the most important thing is the guys. We came in from hot laps and made a lot of quick changes and really brought the car around full circle to go out and put down a good qualifying lap."

Meyers scored his first Quick Time of the season in a limited number of races with the Outlaws on a track he said was really technical to drive.

"It's not a wide open racetrack," Meyers said. "It's got some holes, it's real slick and then it's got some sticky spots."

Donny Schatz, who trailed Daryn Pittman by 52 points for the championship coming into the night, picked up a total of eight points after qualifying second in both sessions.

McMahan also picked up eight points following his third-place run in the opening round and then by ending the season by adding to his series lead in Quick Times with his 17th for a five-point bonus.

"Barry Jackson and the guys had the car real good for me and we cut a good lap," McMahan said. "That's pretty cool to have that many quick times this year. Going into the winter with a victory would make the winter a lot shorter."

Brian Brown and Jac Haudenschild rounded out the top five, respectively, in the session for Friday with Ryan Smith, Sammy Swindell and Randy Hannagan timing third through fifth for Saturday.

Pittman, a strong qualifier this season earning 156 total bonus points, qualified 15th and 22nd, respectively.

Kasey Kahne, who is looking to score his first World of Outlaws championship as an owner with Pittman, was in attendance tonight. Kahne will compete in the NASCAR Sprint Cup race on Sunday at Phoenix International Raceway and will be practicing and qualifying his car there starting tomorrow. Brad Sweet, who regularly pilots the No. 49 for KKR, was also at the track but will also join Kahne in Phoenix as he will be racing in the Nationwide Series race.

Friday's action at The Dirt Track at Charlotte will kick off with hot laps at 4 p.m. (ET).
