Kyle Larson will continue his busy racing schedule in 2012 with a big weekend of competition at Dover International Speedway and Williams Grove Speedway.

Larson heads into the weekend a bit sore after walking away from a violent series of flips in the USAC Sprint feature during the 4-Crown Nationals last Saturday night at Eldora Speedway.

Kyle Larson“I followed a couple cars up to the top getting into (Turn) 1, there was a little bit of a hole, I hit it wrong, and the car started bouncing and got into the fence," Larson said. "It was going to be an easy rollover but as it was doing the first roll, I got hit by Mitch Wissmiller. He had nowhere to go. From there, it started flipping really hard.

“After changing out of my uniform, I noticed that my neck had a big knot on it so I went and got checked out. They said I strained my neck and bruised my knees. Other than that, I'm pretty good, just a little stiff these next few days.”

Larson will spend a couple days in Charlotte, N.C., before making the trip to Pennsylvania to mount his seat into the No. 13 Tom Buch-owned sprint car. After that, he will depart for to run the No. 6 Rev Racing Toyota in Friday's K&N Pro Series East American Real TV 150.

"I'm looking forward to Dover," Larson said. "Last year, Darrell Wallace was in the car I'm driving this year. He ended up winning the race. We obviously have a great car we're going there with.”

Larson is coming off his second K&N win of the season, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The victory put him three points out of the championship lead - the closest he’s been to the top of the standings through 11 races this year.

"It's been tight all year long," Larson said. "(Chase) Elliott, he's definitely rallied in a few races, which is great for him and kept him in the points hunt. It's been really tough among the top four this whole year. Hopefully, we can keep inching away at the points lead and be champion after Rockingham."

The top four drivers in the standings are separated by 13 points going into Dover, where series leader Brett Moffitt has the distinction of being the only driver with multiple wins at the track. Corey LaJoie, who Larson beat at New Hampshire, is 12 points out of the lead in third with Elliott in fourth.

Following the checkered flag at Dover, the racing will not stop for Larson.

"I’m going to helicopter over to Williams Grove Speedway as soon as Dover is finished and go run with the Outlaws in the big National Open there that pays $50,000 to win,” said Larson, who has one win and has led 69 laps in eight starts with the Outlaws this season. "It's going to be an exciting weekend."

Along with running for the K&N championship, other NASCAR races for Larson this fall include the Camping World Truck Series events at Phoenix International Raceway and Homestead-Miami Speedway as he looks to secure a full-time deal for 2013.

"I think we're working on some deals to try and get me a full season next year, but it all depends on sponsorship," said Larson, who is a development driver for Earnhardt Ganassi Racing. "Hopefully, we can land a sponsor that wants to be with me for the next year and help me develop my career in stock car racing."
