With less than a week remaining until the season opening 36th Annual DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Mopar Speedshop at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida, for the World of Outlaws, Craig Dollansky and many of his fellow competitors have been turning laps in the Sunshine State, making sure they have all the nuts and bolts tight as they ready for the nearly 90-race season that awaits them.

Dollansky not only had 41 other competitors to deal with on Saturday night, but also Mother Nature, as rain began to steadily fall right before the initial drop of the green flag at East Bay Raceway Park. After about a 20-minute delay, the cars took to the track again for the 40-lap A-Feature. Dollansky defeated the weather and every other driver, as he scored a $10,000 victory.

“We made some wholesale changes to the car tonight and it was good,” said Dollansky. “The people here at East Bay put on a great show, we have been close here before, and I'm glad to get this win for our team and especially for Scott and Jim Boyd who are here tonight. The crew has been working hard and I'm glad the fans stuck it out with the rain delays.”

Dollansky, a native of Elk River, Minnesota, who finished second in World of Outlaws championship points last season, started from the pole by virtue of the points earned in the first two preliminary features of the week at East Bay. The Top-Six in points were inverted, for the finale of the three days of racing at the 1/3-mile.

Dollansky took the initial lead, as he battled Lucas Wolfe early in the contest, and by the fifth lap was already in lapped traffic, as he set a blistering pace. The caution flag flew once in the 40-lapper, on the 18th circuit, allowing Danny Lasoski to close in on him. Dollansky used a strong restart to quickly open a gap again between himself and the rest of the field and within laps was again in traffic.

As the laps wound down, Dollansky who claimed six World of Outlaws A-Feature wins last season, as well as two preliminary feature triumphs pulled away, to score his first victory of the season by about 10 car lengths.

“Thanks to all our sponsors,” said Dollansky from Victory Lane. “Karavan Trailers, Maxim Chassis, Fisher Racing Engines, Fast Wings and Hoosier Tires and to my crew, Rob Hart and Craig Stevens, who have been doing a great job.”

Lasoski, the 2001 World of Outlaws Champion finished second, with reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Chad Kemenah in fourth, Jason Sides in sixth, Terry McCarl in seventh, Randy Hannagan who won on Thursday night at East Bay was ninth, and Jason Solwold was 11th.

Also competing in the 40-lap finale were: Jeremy Campbell, Paul McMahan, and Tim Shaffer.

Other World of Outlaws drivers in action on Saturday night were: Chad Hillier, who will be a contender for the World of Outlaws Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award this season, and Jason Martin, who is gearing up for his second season with the series.

In preliminary action Saturday night: Chad Kemenah and Terry McCarl claimed heat race wins.

The 2007 World of Outlaws season opens on February 9 at Volusia Speedway Park with the 36th Annual DIRTcar Nationals Presented By Mopar Speedshop.
