WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. - Alex Brundle posted a quick lap of 125.023 miles per hour to put OAK Racing on the pole for Sunday's Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen International.

Brundle pushed his No. 42 Nissan Morgan around the 3.4-mile, 11-turn natural road course in 1 minute, 37.902 seconds during Saturday's qualifying session.  That was more than a half-second quicker than the No. 5 Action Express Corvette, which will start second with defending race winners Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi.

For Brundle, it was a session of "firsts."  In his first visit to Watkins Glen International, he won his first career pole and the first for OAK Racing.

Brundle climbed to the top of the charts halfway through qualifying and never looked back.  He and co-drivers Gustavo Yacaman and Ho-Pin Tung will attempt to earn the team’s first win of the season in Sunday's six-hour event, which also is the third round of the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup.

"I didn’t get a chance to go to the test (at Watkins Glen in May), but we worked well as a team," Brundle said.  "Gustavo (Yacaman) had been here previously, which helped.  He was able to share some knowledge about the track.  Everyone is working toward the same goal and that has been very critical to learning this track very quickly."

Fittipaldi paced both of Saturday's pre-qualifying practices and will be joined on race day by co-drivers Barbosa and Burt Frisselle.  Barbosa is chasing a record-tying third straight win for Action Express at The Glen.  He won with Fittipaldi last year and Darren Law in 2012.

Prototype points leaders Jordan and Ricky Taylor will start sixth in Sunday's race, which marks the mid-point of the inaugural TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

"We tried something with the car and didn’t get what we expected for qualifying, but I think it will be really good for the race," said Ricky Taylor, who qualified the No. 10 Konica Minolta Corvette.  "I caught up with some traffic that really hurt my rhythm.  That was frustrating, but I’m not worried about Sunday.  We have a good racecar and that’s the main thing we can take out of it."

In the Prototype Challenge class, a back-and-forth qualifying session ended with Colin Braun earning his second pole of the season.  He held off Tom Kimber-Smith and Renger van der Zande with a lap of 1:40.562 (121.716 mph) after the three swapped the top spot several times during the 15-minute session.

Braun also won the pole for the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona, a race he went on to win with co-drivers Jon Bennett, James Gue and Mark Wilkins.  Braun and Bennett, the current PC points leaders, have won three of the class’ four races this season in their No. 54 CORE autosport ORECA FLM09.

"We tested here three or four weeks ago and it put us in a good spot coming back to the racetrack," Braun said.  "We were able to unload the car from the truck with a reasonable balance and a good start."

In the GT Le Mans class, Andy Priaulx secured the No. 1 starting spot with a lap of 1:44.084 (117.597 mph) in his No. 55 Team RLL BMW Z4 GTE.  And in GT Daytona, it's Leh Keen on pole in the No. 22 WeatherTech Porsche 911 GT America after a quick lap of 1:48.831 (112.468 mph).
