Joey Logano scored the win in Saturday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series Boyd Gaming 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Logano notched the 28th win of his XFINITY Series career by leading 106 laps on his way to Victory Lane. He was able to get the jump on a final restart with four laps to go and drive away to the checkered flag.

“It was hard to figure out the deal, which lane to pick,” Logano said about the decision on where to restart.  “I had a very bad fast Ford Mustang today.  That’s three wins in a row for the 12 car.

“Man, it’s a lot of fun to have these Team Penske cars fast again in the XFINITY Series. Man, it feels good. But those restarts were crazy, though. You don’t know which lane to pick. You don’t know who is a good pusher. You try to remember what happened on the last.”

The victory came in his first start in the series at the 1.5-mile track. He led three times, including the final 55 laps.

Kyle Larson was forced to settle for second after Logano got by on the last restart of the day.

“We were really good,” Larson said. “Early in the race we were better than everyone else. It’s just hard to keep that track position. We had good restarts. All in all a good day. Our pit stops were awesome.

“We had a lot of speed in our car. A lot better than we had at the end of practice yesterday. I’m happy about that and looking forward to Fontana, the next one.”

Daniel Suarez, Justin Allgaier and Asutin Dillon rounded out the top five.

“It wasn’t easy,” said Allgaier, who was the highest finishing series regular. “But this JR Motorsports team never gives up and if we have to battle we do that when we need to. Had a fast car and feels good to get a good finish here after a bit of a disappointing start to the season.”

Bubba Wallace, pole sitter Kyle Busch, Elliott Sadler, Ryan Reed and Brad Keselowski completed the first 10 finishers.

“I’ve been racing for 15 years and that always makes me feel better anytime I can climb in a race car, so that helped out a lot,” Wallace said of battling the flu. “ It was tough, though.  Under caution I just wanted to go to sleep every time, but I can’t thank my guys enough.  We had such a fast race car.  We drove up to fourth there.  We had a good long-run car.  On balance we were flopping back-and-forth from free to loose it seemed like on every restart.  It was a handful to start with, but she had some speed.  It’s a good run for Leidos again, but I wanted a top five."

Kyle Busch won the opening stage and Keselowski won the second.

Sadler is the point leader by four over Reed after three races of the season.

The NASCAR XFINITY Series now heads to Phoenix Raceway next Saturday afternoon.
