ISM Raceway (Formerly Phoenix Raceway) has been a part of the motorsports scene since 1964. From it's genesis as an open-wheel destination through its present-day status as a stock car haven, the one-mile desert oval has built a reputation both on the way it challenges drivers and as a memory maker for all who step across its threshold.

On Nov. 6, 1988, Alan Kulwicki won the Checker 500, the first Cup Series race staged at the track. A then-record crowd of 60,000 was on hand for the first "Polish Victory Lap," staged by Kulwicki after his first career win.

ISM Connect, a pioneer in smart venue technology, announced in September 2017 a multi-year partnership that includes naming rights for the Raceway’s modernized venue - starting in 2018 - as well as the installation of a groundbreaking digital fan engagement experience.

Together with its parent company, International Speedway Corporation, track officials announced on January 30, 2017 a $178 million modernization of the race track with a variety of enhanced amenities for fans, teams, sponsors and other stakeholders.

Among the many highlights of the modernization project is a completely redesigned infield featuring a first-of-its-kind Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Garage Fan Zone, placing fans face-to-face with the superstars of the sport. Phoenix Raceway’s start/finish line will be repositioned in Turn 2 just before the track’s well-known dog leg. Other new highlights include a new pedestrian tunnel connecting the infield to the new seating areas featuring in-seat Wi-Fi connectivity.

The project is set to be completed for the Fall 2018 NASCAR race weekend.
