Kasey Kahne enjoyed his Easter weekend by completing a road trip to Pennsylvania, where he won a sprint car race.

While most of the Sprint Cup Series drivers took the weekend off from racing, Kahne went sprint car racing at Williams Grove and Lincoln Speedways.

"I saw a lot of people and they looked like they were in tropical areas. I was into sprint car racing this weekend," Kahne said Tuesday on's "Winged Nation." "I was looking forward to it since racing out at Yuma (Ariz., Cocopah Speedway). I felt like we were getting closer and closer ... starting to get a better feel in a sprint car again. I wanted to go to Pennsylvania and race up there. I've always liked those racetracks. It was a good time to go up there."

Kahne started the weekend with a 15th-place finish at Williams Grove then took the checkered flag on Saturday night at Lincoln, leading every lap of the $5,000-to-win Spring Championship. He won the race over Lincoln points leader Brian Montieth.

"The track was slick and I led the whole race," Kahne said. "I saw Brian once and someone said he was on the outside of me once, also. I haven’t seen any video. I know he was close there for a long time and still pretty close at the end."

It was a throwback weekend for Kahne, who won the 2000 Williams Grove season opener, as he made the trip to Pennsylvania with his crew in the transporter.

"To me, it's a blast. I enjoy driving," Kahne said. "I used to do it all the time. I was either driving the truck and trailer or driving my truck to the particular track we were racing. With NASCAR, we fly to so many places and it makes it so much easier to do the NASCAR schedule the way that we do it. I always tell the guys, 'Man, I love this stuff.' "

But Kahne was quick to mention that one of his sprint car drivers, Brad Sweet, always reminds him, "If you did it 95 times a year, you wouldn't like it as much" - referencing the grueling World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car schedule for Kasey Kahne Racing drivers Sweet and Daryn Pittman.

After receiving an email from a dad saying how appreciative he was of Kahne taking the time to sign an autograph for his son over the weekend, "Winged Nation" named Kahne the "Jeff Gordon Kick-It Person of the Week."

"There were so many great fans up there," Kahne said. "They just kept coming after the race so we stayed for a couple hours and did pictures, talked and signed some things for everyone. I'm glad that kid and his dad enjoyed their night."

After the festivities at the racetrack were over, Kahne rode back with the team and he was able to return home just in time to celebrate Easter.

"I still made it home Sunday morning at 5:40 a.m.," Kahne said. "I was able to do Easter with Sam and Tanner, and that was cool."
