NASCAR penalized Cole Pearn, crew chief of the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota, for infractions at Daytona International Speedway.

Pearn was placed on probation through Dec. 31 after the team was given a P2 penalty when the No. 78 car was found to be in violation of Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 20.4.7.6.

Martin Truex Jr. was not able to post a Daytona 500 qualifying time due to a roof flap issue on his No. 78 Toyota.

Prior to making a qualifying attempt, NASCAR officials on pit road determined that a roof flap was not in compliance with prescribed specifications. The team was unable to correct the violation within the allotted five minutes per the NASCAR Rule Book and was forced to forfeit their attempt.

Also, NASCAR gave written warnings to the No. 7, No. 38, No. 44 and No. 46 teams after failing the Laser Inspection Station (LIS) twice in pre-qualifying.
