It is often hard to put into words how much a legend like Barney Hall means to the lives of the people who were impacted by his unparalleled broadcasting career. The NASCAR community took to Twitter in an attempt to do just that Tuesday evening, after it was announced that Barney had passed away.

Barney once quipped during an interview that he didn’t post on social media because his "tweeter's broke," and I doubt he would have believed that he could "break" Twitter. However, the NASCAR community overwhelmed the social network with memorial posts in an effort to express their emotions for a man who became known as "The" voice of NASCAR. Barney Hall became a national trending topic shortly after the announcement and continued well into Wednesday morning as more drivers, fans and media shared their memories of the legendary broadcaster.

Each individual post might have been different, but there was one common theme: Barney Hall was family. He loved the sport of NASCAR, dedicated his life to covering it and embraced those involved with it like they were his own relatives. The community responded in kind as he received a tribute fitting for the man he was.
