A NASCAR Labor Day weekend doubleheader at Atlanta Motor Speedway tops the racing calendar that also finds the Camping World Truck Series in Canada; and the K&N Pro Series, Whelen Southern Modified Tour and World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series in action.
The 25th race of the Sprint Cup Series’ regular season is set for Sunday night at the 1.54-mile AMS oval, the Oral-B USA 500. Twelve drivers have punched their tickets to the Chase by winning a race, with four spots still up for grabs in the final two events of the regular season.
Kyle Busch is the defending winner of the race, which will be held for the final time on Labor Day weekend. Next year’s schedule finds Atlanta in the post-Daytona 500 slot on the schedule while Darlington Raceway takes back its traditional Southern 500 spot.
On Saturday night, the Nationwide Series takes center stage for the Great Clips 300 Benefitting Feed the Children at 7:45 p.m., which also is the start time for Sunday's Cup race.
MRN.com will be trackside in Atlanta all weekend to bring you breaking news, results, statistics, features, photos, audio, video and post-race analysis.
Sunday afternoon, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series returns to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the second running of the Chevrolet Silverado 250. Last year’s inaugural visit to the 2.459-mile road course resulted in a controversial finish between winner Chase Elliott and Ty Dillon. Johnny Sauter takes an eight-point championship lead over teammate Matt Crafton into the race.
Motor Racing Network - "The Voice of NASCAR" - will provide exclusive radio coverage of the race, beginning at 1 p.m. You can listen to the broadcast on your local MRN radio affiliate or its website. The race will also stream live at MRN.com.
There’s more racing on the calendar this holiday weekend with the K&N Pro Series West making a Saturday-night stop at California’s Kern County Raceway Park. The Whelen Southern Modified Tour visits Virginia’s Langley Speedway on Saturday.
And the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series is in the Northwest with Friday and Saturday dates at Washington’s Skagit Speedway before moving to Grays Harbor Raceway on Monday night.
