It’s a NASCAR road racing weekend with the Sprint Cup Series in Sonoma; Nationwide at Road America; and the K&N Pro Series East and West, Whelen Modified Tour and World of Outlaws Sprint Cars also in action.
Sunday’s Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway in Northern California is the first of two road-course events for the Sprint Cup Series in 2014. There have been nine different winners in the last nine races held on the twisting natural road course with Martin Truex Jr. taking last year’s checkered flag.
The weekend begins with practice for the Sprint Cup Series on Friday afternoon followed by Saturday’s qualifying session at 1:40 p.m. (ET). Then, the K&N Pro Series West takes to the track for the Carneros 200 at 3:45 p.m.
Sunday’s Toyota/Save Mart 350 is scheduled to take the green flag at approximately 3:15 p.m. (ET). MRN.com will be trackside in Sonoma all weekend to bring you the latest breaking news, results, stats, photos, audio, video and post-race analysis.
Saturday afternoon, the Nationwide Series gets its first crack at road racing this season with a trip to Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis., for the Gardner Denver 200 Fired Up by Johnsonville. There are no former winners from the previous four races at the four-mile track on the entry list.
MRN’s live coverage of the Gardner Denver 200 hits the air at 2:15 p.m. and MRN.com will be trackside to bring you comprehensive coverage throughout the weekend. You can listen to the Road America broadcast on your local MRN affiliate or its website. Saturday’s race will also stream live at MRN.com.
Elsewhere, the K&N Pro Series East has a Saturday date at Virginia’s Langley Speedway. The Whelen Modified Tour makes a Saturday night stop at the Waterford Speedbowl. And the high-flying World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series is at North Dakota’s River Cities Speedway on Friday night before visiting Minnesota’s I-94 Speedway on Saturday.
