Talladega Superspeedway hosts a NASCAR doubleheader to headline a weekend of racing that includes the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, K&N Pro Series West and World of Outlaws.
The 2.66-mile Talladega Superspeedway hosts both the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series for the second restrictor-plate racing weekend of the season. The two divisions opened their schedules at Daytona International Speedway in February and now move to the longest oval track on the schedule.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. will look to add a second straight plate-track win to his resume after his thrilling Daytona 500 victory. David Ragan scored an upset win in last year’s Aaron’s 499 while Jamie McMurray was victorious when the series returned to Talladega in October.
The weekend will also mark the first time for the Sprint Cup Series to utilize NASCAR’s new group qualifying format at a plate track. Motor Racing Network’s Talladega schedule kicks off on Saturday with live qualifying coverage at 1 p.m. (ET).
Later that afternoon, the Nationwide Series takes center stage for the running of the Aaron’s 312. MRN hits the air at 2:30 p.m. for live coverage. Then on Sunday, the 10th race of the 2014 Sprint Cup Series is set with the Aaron’s 499. Motor Racing Network takes to the air for coverage at 12 p.m.
MRN.com will be trackside at Talladega Superspeedway all weekend to bring you late-breaking news, results, statistics, photos, audio, video and post-race analysis. And follow along on Twitter at @MRNRadio for the latest from Talladega.
The TUDOR United SportsCar Championship heads west to California’s Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for Sunday’s Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix, which features a pair of races. MRN will carry live coverage at 1:15 p.m. and again at 5:45 p.m. (ET).
You can listen to all the weekend’s MRN broadcasts from Talladega and Laguna Seca live on your local radio affiliate or its website. Every broadcast will also be streamed live at MRN.com.
Elsewhere, the K&N Pro Series West has a Saturday date at California’s Stockton 99 Speedway and the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series has a two-day show slated Friday and Saturday at historic Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.
