Sponsorship issues have caused Swan Racing to re-evaluate its current Sprint Cup Series operation.
The organization released a statement on Thursday addressing its plans for the immediate future:
"The team has been unable to secure the kind of sponsorship required to effectively operate. As a result, management is exploring every available option. We hope to be in position to provide a detailed update in the near future."
Brandon Davis bought the team - which was known as Inception Racing - in 2012. He expanded to a two-car stable this season with rookie drivers Parker Kligerman and Cole Whitt. The duo has struggled in the early going with Whitt 33rd in the Sprint Cup Series standings and Kligerman 38th. Neither has a top-10 finish through the first eight races.
Davis brought in additional funding through partnerships with former NFL linebacker Bill Romanowski and rapper 50 Cent, who has used his SMS Audio line to become involved with the team.
But Davis, the CEO of oil and gas company Swan Energy, has not been able to find more sponsorship and has funded the majority of the team’s expenses on his own.
