NASCAR makes its first visit of the season to Texas Motor Speedway to highlight this weekend's racing calendar that also includes the Whelen Modified and Southern Modified Tours as well as the World of Outlaws in action.

The Sprint Cup Series has been competing at TMS since 1997 and returns for the first of two 2014 visits with Sunday’s Duck Commander 500.  Kyle Busch is the defending race winner while Jimmie Johnson took the checkered flag in the series’ most recent appearance last November.

So far, there have been six different winners in the season’s first six races.  Cup Series teams will practice Friday and again Saturday morning before qualifying later that afternoon.

Nationwide Series teams will take to the track for a pair of practices on Thursday before qualifying Friday afternoon for that night’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 300, which is scheduled for an 8:45 p.m. (ET) green flag.

Then Sunday afternoon, the Sprint Cup Series takes center stage for the Duck Commander 500 with a 3:15 p.m. start.

MRN.com will be trackside in Texas all weekend for late-breaking news, features, results, statistics, photos, audio, video and post-race analysis.

Elsewhere, the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour has a Saturday date at South Boston Speedway in Virginia.  The Whelen Modified Tour heads to historic Thompson Speedway in Connecticut for Sunday’s Icebreaker.

And the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series has a two-night show Saturday and Sunday at California’s Calistoga Speedway.
