Kevin Harvick and his family were uninjured in a fire in their home early Wednesday morning.
A call was received at 12:16 a.m. about a fire at the Harvick residence in Oak Ridge, N.C., which is located near Greensboro, N.C.
Units from the Oak Ridge, Stokesdale and Summerfield Fire Departments responded to the call, according to Steve Simmons, fire chief for the Oak Ridge Department. He estimated units remained there three hours.
The Harvick family issued a statement Wednesday morning:
“Last night the local fire department was called to the Harvick’s house where a fire started in the basement in the early morning hours. There was structural and smoke damage within the area. Kevin, DeLana and Keelan were not injured. Thank you all for the outpouring of concern.”
DeLana Harvick tweeted a picture of fire vehicles in their driveway with the note: “Nothing says WAKE UP like a fire and an alarm! Coulda been really, really bad... Thanks to our local fire dept.’’
Kevin Harvick tweeted a picture of firefighters in their home with two on ladders underneath holes in the ceiling. One firefighter had poked through the ceiling and was looking inside it.
With the picture, Harvick wrote: “Tonight we were lucky thanks to these guys we still have a house!’’
Harvick’s home was featured in an episode of “CMT Cribs” in 2009.
