JTG Daugherty Racing has formed a technical alliance with Richard Childress Racing that will include receiving ECR Engines and engineering services during the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, JTG Daugherty announced Monday.

“As a single-car team, we feel that aligning directly with a successful multi-car organization like Richard Childress Racing is what will work best for us in 2014,'' said co-car owner Tad Geschickter in a statement issued by the team.

The move puts JTG Daugherty in the Chevrolet camp. The team had been with Toyota the past five seasons.

AJ Allmendinger takes over the ride in 2014 after sharing duties with Bobby Labonte this past season. Allmendinger earned the team's best finish with a 10th at Watkins Glen International. The team finished 31st in the car owner points standing.

“With our RCR alliance and AJ behind the wheel, we are looking forward to a fresh start in 2014,” Geschickter said.
