KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Kansas Speedway continues to haunt Kyle Busch, who saw his championship hopes take a huge hit in Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400.

Busch came into the weekend third in points but fell to fifth after he was involved in three of the record 15 caution flags.  For the third consecutive race at Kansas, Busch has exited early due to a crash and has yet to finish better than 31st in that span.

"All I know is we're in Kansas - right?," Busch asked, rhetorically.  "It's just Kansas.  That's all we do here.  We just crash."

Busch started the weekend by crashing in practice Saturday and was forced to a back-up car in Sunday’s fourth race of the Chase.  He was able to drive through the field during a challenging afternoon that started at the drop of the green flag when he spun to avoid Danica Patrick, who crashed in Turn 2.

He then was involved in another spin on Lap 187 when Juan Pablo Montoya made contact with the rear of his Toyota along the frontstretch.  But Busch was dealt the final blow when he crashed hard into the Turn-2 wall racing Carl Edwards on Lap 199, destroying his M&M’s Toyota for good.

"Obviously, and apparently everybody else does too," Busch said when he was asked if Kansas still gives him problems.  "Just run over the '18' car and get what you need."

Busch was very critical of the new Kansas asphalt as well as Goodyear’s multi-zone tread tire that was used this weekend.

"The racetrack is the worst I've ever driven on," snapped Busch.  "The tires are the worst tires I've ever driven on and track position is everything.  You can't do anything unless you're out front.  Kevin Harvick couldn't pass me and he led the first 80 laps of the race, so I'd say it's pretty pathetic."

The day’s frustration added to Busch’s horrendous record at Kansas over the years.  Kansas now has the dubious distinction of being his worst track on the schedule based on an average finish of 23.3.

After opening the Chase with three top-five finishes, Busch's 34th-place finish dropped him from 12 to 35 points behind championship leader - and teammate - Matt Kenseth.

"We'll try to get back in it, try to work hard and see what falls our way," Busch said.  "If it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen."
