Jimmie Johnson raced his way back to the top in this week's Power Rankings, increasing his lead in the Sprint Cup Series point standings.

1. Jimmie Johnson: Didn't have enough to challenge for a win at Kansas Speedway, but his third-place finish opened up a 37-point lead in the standings.

2. Brad Keselowski: Had a long day in Kansas with a variety of problems and a battered racecar but somehow ended up in sixth place.

3. Kasey Kahne: Did his best to try and run down Matt Kenseth for the Kansas win but just like Las Vegas, was forced to settle for second.

4. Kyle Busch: Couldn't wait to get out of Kansas City after a practice crash, going to a back-up car and then a hard crash with Joey Logano the lowlights of his weekend.

5. Matt Kenseth: Victory No. 2 as a member of Joe Gibbs Racing has put Kenseth squarely in the picture as a solid championship contender.

6. Clint Bowyer: Still searching for that elusive home-track victory but a decent fifth-place effort for Bowyer at Kansas Speedway.

7. Dale Earnhardt Jr.: Got caught on pit road when an unfortunate late-race caution came out, ruining his day.

8. Carl Edwards: Another victim of the ill-timed caution with 50 laps to go, Edwards was forced to settle for 17th place.

9. Greg Biffle: One more name to add to that list of drivers stuck on pit road when the late caution flew and Biffle was credited with a very disappointing 19th place.

10. Jeff Gordon: Started 43rd for the first time in his Cup Series career after a qualifying crash but charged back to finish 13th.
