Before he heads to Texas Motor Speedway, Matt Kenseth will make a stop at Daytona International Speedway on Wednesday for a rescheduled fan event celebrating the team’s victory in this year's Daytona 500.

The event was originally scheduled as a Champion’s Breakfast for Monday, February 27th, but was postponed when rain forced the Daytona 500 to move to that day.

Rain also played a role in Kenseth’s first Daytona 500 victory in 2009 when the 200-lap race had to be shortened to 152 laps, but the fan event still took place on the following day.

“Last time we won the (Daytona) 500, the Monday morning stuff was really fun,” Kenseth said. “All the crew got to spend the night, go to breakfast and induct the car into Daytona and leave (it) there for all the fans to see for the year.

“(We) got to do a lot of neat stuff. All the crew signed the car, so that was a fun morning. We didn’t do that this year so that’s kind of what we’re going back down there to do. I look forward to that. It’s cool having it there and I look forward to going and officially putting it in there.”

The Daytona fan event will feature a Q&A session with Kenseth, team owner Jack Roush and crew chief Jimmy Fennig, photo opportunities with the No. 17 Best Buy Ford Fusion and a tour of Daytona International Speedway.

“I remember, it was probably before I started racing, going in there and seeing the cars from the year before,” Kenseth said. “I thought that was really neat from a fan’s perspective.”

After the event, Kenseth will head to Texas Motor Speedway for Saturday’s Samsung Mobile 500 where he is the defending race winner. Kenseth led 169 laps on route to Victory Lane.

In 19 starts at the 1.5-mile oval, Kenseth has two wins, 10 top fives, 13 top-10 finishes and a Series-best Driver Rating of 106.5.

“I’ve always really liked Texas, the track, the crowd and the area,” Kenseth said. “I always enjoy going there. It’s been a pretty good track for us in the past. (I’m) looking forward to getting back there.”

Kenseth will attempt to improve on his average start of 16.8 at Texas when qualifying begins at 6:40 p.m. (ET) on Friday. The Samsung Mobile 500 kicks off Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets to the Champion’s Breakfast originally scheduled for February 27, 2012, will be honored for the Champion’s Lunch on April 11. Tickets are also available for $40 by calling 1-800-PITSHOP or online at www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com.
