CONCORD, N.C. - Kevin Harvick is quickly turning around his performances at Charlotte Motor Speedway and is now looking to sweep the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points-paying races at the track with a win in tonight's Bank of America 500.

After a stretch of 13 races outside the top 10, Harvick recorded an eighth-place finish in this event last year and then followed it up with his first points win in May's Coca-Cola 600.

“We’re exciting to come in here," Harvick said. "Obviously the last race here ended well for us. The last three or four races we’ve run a lot better here than we have over the past several years so we feel like we’ve got a lot better starting spot than we did in the past for setups and things coming to today. It feels good."

Tonight, Harvick will take the green flag from the 14th starting position, his best qualifying effort in the last six races at CMS and third top-15 start in the Chase.

“I think for us, it is important, we have qualified for the most part better in the Chase than we have all year," Harvick said. "We are paying a lot more attention to it too. It definitely does not hurt anything, so we will take any starting position that we can because usually we are in the late twenties, early thirties here so that makes the day a lot easier.”

A victory in the Bank of America 500 would be special for Harvick for many reasons. Not only would it help his rank in the championship standings, but it would mark Richard Childress Racing's 100th Sprint Cup win. A checkered flag would also give Harvick the distinction of becoming the ninth driver to win all three races at Charlotte, including the All-Star race.

Even though Harvick ranks second in the Chase, the last three races have seen him overcome hurdles to get a solid finish.

"The Chase has been a fight for us so far," Harvick said. "We haven’t had everything exactly how we would have laid it out but I think the results haven’t been deadly for us I guess you can say too. So it’s been an experience but we’ll keep plugging away week by week.”
