CONCORD, N.C. - Dollar General announced today that it will expand its sponsorship in NASCAR with a move to Joe Gibbs Racing in 2012.

After sponsoring a Nationwide car at Turner Motorsports and an IndyCar for Sarah Fisher Racing, Dollar General will move to the Sprint Cup Series with driver Joey Logano for 12 races. Long-time sponsor Home Depot will remain on the car for the other races.

"We went to Home Depot with this and Home Depot with us is a long term partner - we're going on 13 years," said team owner Joe Gibbs. "We've got a long term deal going forward with them. It so happens that they said that they thought they were a great partner and would look forward to working together with them and thought they would have a great relationship working forward with Dollar General."

Even despite winning at Kentucky Speedway in the IndyCar Series with driver Ed Carpenter, Rick Dreiling, Dollar General’s chairman and CEO, said the sponsorship direction for the company is in NASCAR.

“Being in Victory Lane at Kentucky with Sarah Fisher Racing was wonderful, but our customer base leans toward NASCAR,” Dreiling said. “Our demographic is middle America. A lot of our customers have cars, they work on their cars and they can relate to these guys. They have a passion for car racing. That’s truly what led us to JGR. A passion to win, a passion to do things right.”

In addition to sponsoring the No. 20 Toyota, Dollar General will be on the No. 11 Nationwide Toyota driven by Brian Scott for a full season. Also, Kyle Busch (No. 18) or Joey Logano (No. 20) will combine to drive the Dollar General Nationwide car in 10 races.

Busch will continue his partnership in the Camping World Truck Series at Kyle Busch Motorsports with Dollar General in 10 races next season.

“Everyone at KBM couldn’t be happier that DG is returning for more truck racing next year,” Busch said. “I’m grateful to be driving for Dollar General in both the truck and Nationwide series. Our team will work hard to continue to put Dollar General in Victory Lane.”
