KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Defending race winner Greg Biffle will start Sunday's Hollywood Casino 400 from the pole after capturing the top spot in Friday's qualifying session at Kansas Speedway.

Biffle turned a lap of 174.887 mph to lead the way on a windy afternoon in Kansas. It was his eighth career Sprint Cup Series pole and his second of the 2011 season.

Biffle has two wins at Kansas including last October’s race and has his sights set on victory number three Sunday.

“Kansas is a unique track that I have always enjoyed racing at,” said Biffle. “We got our only win of the 2007 season at Kansas too, so we know we can get to Victory Lane… if we don’t have anything go wrong. We’re working really hard on all fronts to do everything we can to get the No. 16 Ford into the winner’s circle.”

Biffle’s Roush Fenway Racing teammate Carl Edwards will start outside the front row after his lap of 174.571 mph. Sunday’s race will be the fourth time RFR cars have started together on the front row this season.

Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth and Kasey Kahne rounded out the first five qualifiers.

Paul Menard, Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex Jr., Mark Martin and Jeff Gordon completed the top 10.

Other Chase drivers in Sunday’s starting lineup include Ryan Newman (11th), Brad Keselowski (12th), Kevin Harvick (14th), Kurt Busch (17th), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (18th), Jimmie Johnson (19th) and Tony Stewart (23rd).

Camping World Truck Series point leader Austin Dillon will make his Sprint Cup Series debut Sunday after qualifying 26th.

David Starr, Josh Wise and Mike Skinner failed to make Sunday’s race.

Motor Racing Network's coverage of Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway goes on the air at 1 p.m. (ET).
