Season-to-Date NASCAR Driver Ratings

Kyle Busch returns to the top spot in the rankings following his second consecutive top-three finish at Watkins Glen International.

1. Kyle Busch: Could have easily had a pair of wins at The Glen over the weekend in both Nationwide and Sprint Cup but came away disappointed, Still posted a third place finish on Monday and climbed into a tie with Carl Edwards for the Sprint Cup point lead.

Season-to-Date Driver Rating: 109.6
Point Standing: First
Last Week's Ranking: Third

2. Jimmie Johnson: Probably shuddered watching Denny Hamlin’s crash Monday into the tire barrier, which was eerily similar to Johnson’s 2000 Nationwide Series accident at The Glen. A decent day on Monday with a Top 10 finish.

Season-to-Date Driver Rating: 97.7
Point Standing: Third
Last Week's Ranking: Fourth

3. Jeff Gordon: Has lost the momentum he had after his second place finish at the Brickyard 400 although not his confidence. Despite a disappointing outing at The Glen, which pushed his winless drought there to a full decade, Gordon remains upbeat about his title hopes once the Chase rolls around.

Season-to-Date Driver Rating: 93.7
Point Standing: Seventh
Last Week's Ranking: First

4. Kurt Busch: Came into Watkins Glen in the middle of a war of words with Jimmie Johnson, proceeded to go out and win Saturday’s Nationwide Series race but then had a blown tore and vicious crash to end his day on Monday. I’d day that was a pretty eventful weekend for Busch.

Season-to-Date Driver Rating: 97.4
Point Standing: Sixth
Last Week's Ranking: Second

5. Carl Edwards: Not much out of the 99 came over the weekend but Edwards should be a force in the coming weeks to end the regular season with Michigan and Atlanta on the horizon. Remains on top of the Cup standings but in a tie with Kyle Busch.

Season-to-Date Driver Rating: 99.4
Point Standing: Second
Last Week's Ranking: Fifth

6. Brad Keselowski: Maybe the hottest driver in the series right now, Keselowski bounced right back after his Pocono win with nearly another trip to victory lane Monday. He came in second but seems poised to lock down at least a Wild card spot with another win over the next four weeks.

Season-to-Date Driver Rating: 82.4
Point Standing: 14th
Last Week's Ranking: Tenth

7. Kevin Harvick: A sixth place finish for the Richard Childress Racing driver was not a bad day at The Glen but nothing spectacular. Still has the look of a driver and a team biding their time until the stakes rise with the start of the Chase.

Season-to-Date Driver Rating: 90.5
Point Standing: Fourth
Last Week's Ranking: Ninth

8. Matt Kenseth: Survived the last road course race of the season in one piece, which had to be a relief for Kenseth. Michigan, Bristol, Atlanta and Richmond lie ahead and all are places where Kenseth will contend.

Season-to-Date Driver Rating: 93
Point Standing: Fifth
Last Week's Ranking: Eighth

9. Tony Stewart: Hanging on to his Chase hopes after a frustrating weekend that saw the five time Watkins Glen race winner not be much of a factor for victory lane. Even a Top 10 finish was wiped out for Stewart when he had trouble in the last lap chaos of Monday.

Season-to-Date Driver Rating: 90.8
Point Standing: Tenth
Last Week's Ranking: Sixth

10. Marcos Ambrose: The latest to join the first-time winner’s club will try to carry a late regular season run into a potential Wild Card spot in the Chase. He’s just outside the first twenty in the point standings but based on his first time through mid-sized tracks like Michigan and Atlanta, the No. 9 car.

Season-to-Date Driver Rating: 76.7
Point Standing: 22nd
Last Week's Ranking: N/R

Out This Week: Ryan Newman
Current "Chase" Wild Cards: Clint Bowyer and Denny Hamlin
