A NASCAR doubleheader at Bristol Motor Speedway headlines the weekend racing calendar, which will also see the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and AMA Monster Energy Supercross Series in action.
The high-banked Bristol Motor Speedway is set to host both the Nationwide Series and Sprint Cup Series this weekend in what is one of NASCAR’s most popular stops of the season. The Tennessee half-mile track has been a fan favorite since it first opened its gates back in 1961.
Jimmie Johnson is the defending champion of Sunday’s Jeff Byrd 500, named in honor of Bristol’s former track president who lost his life to cancer last season. The defending champion will be looking for his first win of the season with a return trip to Bristol’s victory lane.
Qualifying for the Jeff Byrd 500 is slated for 3:40 p.m. (ET) Friday.
Saturday afternoon the Nationwide Series takes center stage for the Scotts EZ Seed 300. The race, which will begin at 2 p.m. (ET), will be the Bristol debut of the next generation Nationwide car.
Sunday’s Jeff Byrd 500 is slated for a 1:15 p.m. (ET) green flag.
