BROOKLYN, Mich. - Denny Hamlin continued his recent roll in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series on Sunday driving to his fifth victory of the season in the Helluva Good! Sour Cream Dip 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

Hamlin followed up his win last week in Pocono with a dominating performance Sunday and scored his first career Sprint Cup Series victory at Michigan.

"This team is so focused on winning and it was so great to have a car like the one I had today," said Hamlin, who had to rebound from an early race fuel pick-up issue. "To win here at Michigan where I haven't been very good of late is huge and U feel very confident we're going to continue to be in contention for more wins down the road."

Since NASCAR switched the Sprint Cup car from a rear wing to a spoiler, Hamlin has won five of the ten races run. His five triumphs are a single season personal best for the Joe Gibbs racing driver.

The win was Hamlin's 13th career Sprint Cup victory.Kasey Kahne, pole sitter Kurt Busch, Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart rounded out the top five.

Busch led early in the race from the pole but fell off as the race went on. He was able to rally for his fifth top five of the season.

"It seems like we lost a little bit of speed as the race went on, lost a little grip when the track rubbered in," Busch said. "We made good adjustments and had solid pit stops. That’s what this game is all about. This is tough. There isn’t any other racing in the world where, if you’re off a little bit, people are going to go by you."

Kahne came home second for his third top five finish of 2010.

"The whole Budweiser team did a really nice job," said Kahne. "We had the new Ford engine and it was night and day difference to what I had last week. I am really happy with the FR9 engine. For our first time racing it, it was a nice improvement. I think that bodes well for all the Ford teams."

Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Jeff Burton, Greg Biffle and Joey Logano completed the first ten finishers.

Kevin Harvick maintained the Sprint Cup Series point lead despite finishing 19th. He holds a 22 point advantage over Kyle Busch with Hamlin now third 47 behind.

The race was slowed by only four caution flags for 14 laps mostly for debris and a spin by Marcos Ambrose on the front stretch early in the race after he was tagged in the rear bumper by Regan Smith.

Nine different drivers lead in the race that had 18 lead changes. Hamlin's average speed was 156.386 mph.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series now heads to the road course at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California next Sunday.
