2009 Sprint Cup Dnfs

Fifty-eight NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers recorded at least one DNF during the 2009 season, including four-time Champion Jimmie Johnson.

Johnson managed to only score one DNF, though, en route to his fourth consecutive championship - in the first Talladega race of the season. Eleven other drivers only scored one DNF all season.

Ryan Newman and Tony Stewart both scored their only DNF in 2009 during the Chase. Six other Chase drivers suffered DNFs during the Chase, led by Denny Hamlin with three.

Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Juan Pablo Montoya and Greg Biffle were running at the finish in all 10 of the Chase races.

Of those four, Juan Pablo Montoya was the only driver to be running at the finish in all 36 races this season. That was a turnaround for him from last season, when he topped all drivers with nine DNFs.

This season saw a high number of DNF's for the underfunded teams. With limited sponsorship, some of the teams were forced to start and park.

Dave Blaney led all drivers in DNFs with 29. He attempted 34 races this season, with four FTQs, and only one race where he was running at the finish - a 28th-place finish in the Coca-Cola 600.

Joe Nemechek was close behind him with 27 recorded DNFs. He finished a best 14th at the first Talladega race, one of only three races this season where he was running at the finish.

Below is a complete list of which drivers scored DNFs and how many.
