Kenseth Father Son Battle

CONCORD, N.C. - While the NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit and Matt Kenseth take a week off from the pressures of an intense points race to make the Chase for the Cup, the Roush Fenway driver will take on a different kind of pressure this weekend at Madison International Speedway; the race for family bragging rights.

For the first time ever, Kenseth will go head-to-head on the track against his 16 year-old son, Ross, this Saturday night (Aug. 29) at Madison International Speedway in Oregon, Wis.

"I am looking forward to racing against Ross and racing in a limited late model at Madison," said Kenseth. "I've never run that type of car out there. I have watched many limited late model races since Ross has started and they are very competitive. It's a great series with a lot of great drivers and I'm interested to race against them. I'm sure it will be a lot of fun and a great learning experience."

The Madison International Speedway weekly Rockweiler Insulation Late Models will compete in a twin 50-lap feature event that will include father vs. son, as the 2009 Daytona 500 winner competes against Ross Kenseth and the other weekly MIS competitors.

The Twin 50's will be a points event for the MIS weekly Rockweiler Insulation Late Models. Matt Kenseth, the 2003 Sprint Cup Champion, will compete in a Pathfinder Chassis--prepared Late Model.

Tickets for the event will be available at the gate on the day of the show, including VIP Hospitality passes and pit passes.

Kenseth and the Sprint Cup series return to action next weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway where he has posted finishes of 12th or better in his last six races at the 1.54-mile speedway, including four top-fives.

With just two races remaining in Atlanta and Richmond before the Chase cutoff, Kenseth leads 13th place Kyle Busch by only 34 points. In a tight points battle that see just 80 points separate eighth and 14th positions, Kenseth trails 11th place Kasey Kahne by just 18 points and he's only 41 points behind eighth.
