Rain Gives Gordon Pole

Qualifying for Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Goody's Fast Pain Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway was rained out and Sunday's race will be lined-up by point standings giving Jeff Gordon the pole for the race.

The rain out marks the second straight Sprint Cup qualifying session lost to rain at Martinsville. Mother Nature wiped out last October's time trials which gave then point leader Jimmie Johnson the number one starting spot. He went on to win the race.

The seven-time Martinsville winner will lead the field to the green flag Sunday flanked by number two man in the point standings Kurt Busch.

Clint Bowyer, Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards round out the top five in Sunday's grid.

Kasey Kahne, Tony Stewart, defending race winner Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson and Matt Kenseth complete the top ten starters.

Four drivers will be forced to miss Sunday's race: Sterling Marlin, Dennis Setzer, Tony Raines and Derrike Cope.

Sunday's Goody's Fast Pain Relief 500 is slated for a 2 p.m. (ET) green flag.
