When Clint Bowyer’s No. 33 Chevrolet Impala SS unloads at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend, it will do so with a much different look. The burgundy, white and gold colors of BB&T will appear on the No. 33 for the first of 11 races, kicking off its 2009 sponsorship with Richard Childress Racing.

BB&T has sponsored Bowyer since 2007, primarily in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. The pairing has yielded much success, including the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers’ championship and a win in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Richmond International Raceway on May 3, 2008.

“It’s great to continue the relationship with BB&T,” said Bowyer. “I look forward to continuing what we’ve built over the last two years. The last time we ran BB&T colors on the Sprint Cup side, we won at Richmond. Hopefully, we’ll be able to bring them to Victory Lane again this weekend in Atlanta.”

In his fourth season of full-time NSCS competition, Bowyer is off to the strongest start of his brief career. In the three races held thus far in 2009, he and the Richard Childress Racing No. 33 entry have accumulated two top-five finishes and have an 8.3 average finish. Bowyer enters Atlanta second in Sprint Cup Series points, 18 markers behind leader Jeff Gordon.

In addition to its primary sponsorship this weekend at Atlanta, BB&T colors will be featured at Bristol Motor Speedway on March 22, Martinsville Speedway on March 29, Talladega Superspeedway on April 26, Richmond International Raceway on May 2, Darlington Raceway on May 9, Atlanta Motor Speedway on September 6, Dover International Speedway on September 27, Martinsville Raceway on October 25 and Talladega Superspeedway on November 1. BB&T will also be the primary sponsor for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on May 16.
