2008 Sprint Cup Stat: Lap Leaders

Jimmie Johnson led the most laps in 2008 en route to his third consecutive NASCAR Sprint Cup championship after he led 18.3% of the 10,726 possible laps this season.

Johnson led in 29 of the 36 races this season and was up front for the most in one race at Martinsville in the fall for 339 circuits.

Eight-time winner Kyle Busch was second overall in races led with 24 after leading 15.6% of all laps in 2008.

Carl Edwards, who won nine races this year, was the only other driver to lead more than 1,000 laps (1,282).
