In this edition of "10 Questions" RacingOne sat down with Scott Wimmer and found out his first car, how he obtained his dog, his favotite TV show and much, much more.

RacingOne: What was your first car?

Wimmer: It was a 1988 Isuzu pup pick-up truck. It was a real gem. My dad owned a construction company and we had trucks for running parts to the parts houses, and when I got my driver’s license I was like well I'll just take one of the parts trucks. It didn't have a radio or anything, but it got me where I needed to go.

RacingOne: What's your most embarrassing moment in racing?

Wimmer: Oh geez…I've had so many over the years. It would probably go back to the short track days. I remember when I was first starting out I think in one race I spun out like five times by myself. It was kind of a big joke running around the family that I was hitting the ice in the middle of July in Wisconsin on the track.

RacingOne: Besides racing, what's the most extreme sport you have participated in?

Wimmer: I did a lot of down hill skiing. When I was younger I was a little braver. I actually went out to Jackson Hole a couple years ago and skied out there. After that I decided I'm going to wear a helmet from now on when I ski, because that's something that I guess you take for granted over the years. I never really got injured skiing. But now looking at it with the trees flying by and everything like that. That's probably the most extreme.

RacingOne: If you were in a movie who would play you?

Wimmer: (Laugh) I always said Edward Norton would play me. A lot of guys think I look a little bit like him. I think he's a good actor. I loved him in a lot of his movies. I would be pretty good with Edward Norton.

RacingOne: Do you have any pets?

Wimmer: I've got a dog, a yellow lab named Riley, and I think he's 14 now. It's kind of a funny story on how I got the dog. I actually won him in a race. I beat Matt Kenseth to get the dog. My Dad always blames Matt for me getting that dog. I had a bet with my dad and if I won the race I get the dog. I happened to beat Matt that night so I got the dog. It was kind of a cool story. We got his name off a guy's trailer. I forgot who the racer was, but his trailer went by and it said Riley Motors, and I said, 'Riley that's kind of a neat name.' Everything with our pets usually revolves around racing.

RacingOne: Where was your first race and where did you finish?

Wimmer: My first race was at Wausau Speedway back in 1991, I believe. I think I started dead last and finished dead last. After that is when I started spinning out all the time because I was trying to go faster. My first year of racing was really a lot of learning.

RacingOne: What's the best part about being a race car driver?

Wimmer: Being able to do what you love to do. There are a lot of people that can go to work and love their jobs, but this is something I enjoy to do. I get to work with great people and a great car owner. If you can do that for a majority of your life that's pretty enjoyable.

RacingOne: What's the best advice you have ever received?

Wimmer: I received advice from Dick Trickle years and years ago. He said, "You've got to finish a race to have a chance to win it." That has always stuck in my head, even to this day. You can push the car over the limit or you could put it in places that you might not make it out of, but ultimately you've got to finish the race to win it and that's probably some of the best advice I have ever gotten.

RacingOne: Where is your ideal vacation spot?

Wimmer: I would have to say back home being in Wisconsin. I really enjoy being back up there. I have a cabin just outside of Wausau that is right on the snowmobile and cross-country ski trails and we have the down hill skiing there. It's really a nice place to go back to. Really it's about spending time with my friends and family because during the season my time is very limited with them.

RacingOne: What is your favorite TV show?

Wimmer: Right now I would have to say "My Name is Earl." We seem to watch that every week. That and "Scrubs." I used to watch "That 70's Show" a lot. I like anything comedy.
