Mayfield To Haas-CNC

It will be an all-new driver line-up at Haas-CNC Racing in 2008 as Jeremy Mayfield joins Scott Riggs, with the duo replacing the current pair of Jeff Green and Johnny Sauter.

Mayfield leaves the Bill Davis Racing team to join Haas-CNC effective immediately and will pilot the Best Buy No. 66 Chevrolet this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

"Green did a good job for us, and we appreciate everything he did," said team general manager Joe Custer.

It was announced earlier this fall that Riggs would join the team in 2008. Custer said the line-up for next year, in terms of which driver will drive which car, has not yet been determined.

As far as the status of current Haas-CNC Racing driver Johnny Sauter, Custer said Sauter is under contract with the team and that "we're working through that" for 2008.

However it was reported last week, Sauter was given permission to look for other options in 2008.

Mayfield will test for the team next week in the COT session in Atlanta.

"It's all about next year, and with four races left, plus the Atlanta test is critical, we can work with people for next year," Custer said.

Mike Skinner and Johnny Benson will share driving duties of the No. 36 for the remaining four events on the 2007 schedule.
