"Dale" Playing In Detroit

DETROIT, Mich. – Race fans who want more action surrounding the Citizens Bank 400 at Michigan International Speedway will find it in local movie theaters with one of the most critically acclaimed racing movies to hit cinemas.

"DALE," the only authorized documentary on racing legend Dale Earnhardt, will open in Detroit area theatres Tuesday, June 19, 2007. For six nights only, DALE will be shown in local AMC and United Artists theatres throughout the Detroit area. The film, produced by NASCAR Images and CMT Films, will play for a limited engagement June 19 – 21 and June 26 - 28.

“This movie is a spectacular tribute to a man who became one of NASCAR’s greatest champions,” Roger Curtis, president of Michigan International Speedway, said. “MIS race fans in the Detroit area always had a great appreciation for Dale Earnhardt and they will truly enjoy seeing this movie in local theaters. It’s also a special bonus for the thousands of race fans who’ll be coming to the Detroit area from out-of-state for the NASCAR events at MIS.”

Narrated by Paul Newman, “DALE” is the first documentary of the late seven-time NASCAR champion that has been given the full support of Teresa Earnhardt, Dale’s widow and Richard Childress, his former car owner. The film, presented by Chevrolet / GM Goodwrench, includes archival race footage, rare outtakes, home videos and interviews with fans, friends and competitors.
