Racingone Power Rankings

Share:
The latest edition of the RacingOne NEXTEL Cup Series Power Rankings as the series heads to Lowe's Motor Speedway for Saturday's Bank of America 500, which features NASCAR's new comprehensive statistical ratings system using a detailed formula to calculate each driver's performance.

Editor's Note: Top 10 rankings are generated by a formula combining the following categories: Win, Finish, Top-15 Finish, Average Running Position While on Lead Lap, Average Speed Under Green, Fastest Lap, Led Most Laps, Lead-Lap Finish. Maximum: 150 points per race.

1. Matt Kenseth (Last week's ranking: 1st)
Just has the look of a championship-winning season going when he can bounce back a week after such an off day in Kansas

2. Jeff Burton (Last week's ranking: 3rd)
Veteran poise came through Sunday with the no panic attitude on the late race flat tire at Talladega.

3. Greg Biffle (Last week's ranking: 5th)
Put him down as a non'Chaser" who will win in the next six races based on his recent performances.

4. Jeff Gordon (Last week's ranking: 2nd)
The most recent Hendrick driver to throw in the towel on his title chaces.

5. Jimmie Johnson (Last week's ranking: 3rd)
Two weeks in a row he had possible victory snatched away within sight of the checkered flag.

6. Kevin Harvick (Last week's ranking: 6th)
A bit under the radar the last couple weeks but still definitely a solid contender for the title.

7. Tony Stewart (Last week's ranking: 7th)
Was in the mix to steal another win away from the "Chasers" at Talladega.

8. Kyle Busch (Last week's ranking: 9th)
Looked completely cooked two weeks ago, now still a longshot to get back into contention.

9. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (Last week's ranking: 10th
A classy response to the last lap fireworks at Talladega, a lesson many of his "fans" could take a lesson from.

10. Denny Hamlin (Last week's ranking: 9th)
Is due a dose of good luck after two bad weeks in Kansas and Talladega.
